FAQs about hotels in Sorrento

Colorful and Captivating

Overlooking the Bay of Naples and mount Vesuvius, Sorrento is a colorful town in Campania. According to legend, it was the land of the sirens that had the power to enchant with their singing.

The town of Sorrento has gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a wide variety of restaurants, shops and cafés. Built around the 11th century, the Romanesque Cathedral of Sorrento is the city’s most important landmark. The charming Bell Tower with the beautiful majolica clock is the first thing you notice.

The picturesque harbor of Marina Grande has some of the best restaurants in the city. Wander around during sunset and you'll see fishermen cleaning their nets. Marina Piccola is the place to catch a ferry to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

Born in a garden of lemon and oranges, the traditional yellow liquor limoncello is a unique aperitif or digestive drink. The mediterranean climate of Sorrento helps in the production of this famous refreshment.

Naples International Airport is located 3 miles from the Capodichino district of Naples and about 18 miles from Sorrento. You can stay in one of the Sorrento hotels, B&Bs and pensions with Booking.com.

Sorrento was a great place to use as a base to see the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Pompeii, and the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. I didn't really explore Sorrento much until the last day, and I happened upon a festive and thriving street scene near the highly recommended Gelateria David, near the train station. The EAV train to Pompeii and Naples is crowded and you can't reserve a seat. I recommend looking up the schedule online and getting there early.

Exceptional place to visit, perfect to serve as a base point while you visit the surrounding area (i.e., Capri, Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, etc.) A lot of restaurants nearby and people are helpful and friendly. I would definitely try out the Syrene Bar Restaurant, The Orange Tree (Thai) and Beersteak (one of my favorite places).

    Super pretty town.

Super pretty town. Didn’t realize how nice (and touristy) it would be. Also didn’t realize how good the hiking in the area would be (if you don’t mind going up hills)—walk to SantAgata was great, but challenging. Tourist office at the train station was giving out a hiking map.

    Good for a few days.

Good for a few days. Out of season in April the whole area was too busy to use public transport comfortably. Long waits overfilled buses and trains, people don't queue but push and shove to get on. Ferries to Capri were all filled and Capri although very nice had the same issues. Staying longer and using Sorrento as base although ideally placed would be extremely difficult. Plenty of restaurants. Too many shops aimed at tourists and overpriced.

Absolutely amazing property. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Every staff member we met was kind and helpful. Our farm to table was perfection. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, just as pictured. The beach was perfect. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle board to explore the cove. Our children loved dinner exploring the property and did not want to leave. Truly a great way to experience Sorrento away from the huddle and busses. We have tracked across Italy and our stay here has been our favorite. We will be back!

Chalet Lidia is a wonderful place to spend your time in Sorrento. The chalet is in a great location. I felt like I was in the mountains of Umbria, but was able to walk a few minutes to the beach and to the center of town. The owners are the nicest people you could meet. They are really welcoming and made my feel at home from the moment I arrived. They also pay attention to the small details of their property. I would highly recommend chalet Lidia to anyone that wants the Italian home experience while visiting Italy.

Sorrento experience is an awesome find. We were picked up at the train station which was very nice. They provided us with gluten free foods for breakfast which was very good. Palazzo delle Grazie was our favorite hotel during our Italy trip. The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated, recently renovated, and are very comfortable. Above all, the service is exceptional. Even before our arrival, the staff was very communicative via chat when we inquired about tours, private transfers, etc. Alida, Rovatiana, Francesca, Anna, and Nello, are so charming, friendly, and helpful. The first stop in Italy is such a perfect hotel, spacious design rooms, lovely staff, and a daily surprise breakfast. What's more perfect is the location of the hotel, located in the center of the city, whether it is shopping, eating, or going to the dock to sea, it is very convenient, walk within ten minutes to reach! Driving is also very convenient, the hotel provides personal parking service, do not need to worry about ztl problems and grab a parking space, highly recommended!

Maria and her staff just do a fabulous job of taking care of guests. We arrived early and they were kind enough to store our bags and allow us to leave our car while we explored Sorrento. The breakfasts are the best we experienced during our two weeks in Italy - just fabulous! Our room and bathroom were both large and very comfortable. The views from the main floor balcony and our room were wonderful. Nearly everything exceeded our expectations. We hope to return again.

The hosts are wonderful and so helpful. The view from the room was good and it was lovely to have bats flying outside at dusk. Breakfast was wonderful and I was able to have it in my room to save the climb up to the roof terrace in the morning. The harbour is lovely and a touch of old Sorrento. It was a great place to spend my last two days in Italy. And the taxi they booked for me restored my faith in taxi drivers, having encountered a few problems previously.

Location - outside the city, so it was quiet, but a very short walk to get there. Marianna who worked in the breakfast area was very personable and kind. Pasquale at the front desk was very helpful with recommendations for tours and restaurants. The shower was large and had good water pressure - hard to find in Italy! Hotel was clean and we liked having a beach right there. (The beach is rocky - typical for Sorrento. You will want rubber water shoes!)
